Printing via a Maths desktop

If you are unable to print directly from your laptop but you have an account on the Maths system, you can work around the problem by copying the files to your Maths home directory, logging into a Maths computer and printing them from there.

Stergios Antonakoudis has written a script to streamline this process for Linux and MacOSX users by piping the contents of the files through an lpr command run on ssh.maths without the need to copy them first.

N.B. Only use this script for files which can safely be printed from the command line using lpr i.e. PDF, PostScript and plain text files. Using it to print any other file type will fail and may cause the printer to start spewing out pages of gibberish.
